the garden of rest at floriana is a beautiful heritage site, which served as a protestant cemetery from 1806 to 1856. at least 528 people were buried here, most of whom were british soldiers and businessmen. some maltese people were buried here too, amongst of them is mikiel anton vassalli, known as the father of the maltese language who had translated the new testament. during ww2 the cemetery was hit by bombs and part of the bastion wall at the far end and some graves were damaged. the garden was finally restored in 2002.

next sunday the garden will host 'soul source', an event dedicated to music, food and art. for this occasion, the venue will be decorated by *dream deco* through the crafty hands of stefan introducing some fantasy deco, including banners and backdrops, uv cosmos, elfen lanters and a fairy cove!

we had time to relax, to unwind and to gather new inspiration for our creations. some of us.... (stefan & mike) .... even had the time and possibility to favour the psychedelic grounds of ozora (lucky them!)

...and so for the first time *dream drops* left our shores, and made it to hungary with success!!!

the next stall of *dream drops* is planned for 'soul source' a chillout event taking place on the 6th of september in the beautiful and mystical garden of rest in floriana. for this occasion dream drops will also provide guests with a 'sweet taste of india'... as our chef stefan will prepare an assortment of delicious curries for the day!

we are currently preparing a new collection of *dream drops* purposely for 'soul source'....

think exotic... think magic... think wild.... :) see you there!

i dont know about you, but for me august is choc-a-bloc with birthdays! ... going back 9 months, i can safely guess that there is something about november... it must be one very busy month for couples :)

apart from my sister and my father, there are my 2 best friends, my hero, my favourite footballer, and a bunch of other friends, including, of course, stefan, all born in august. clearly this makes august quite an expensive month too, and even though i am one solid believer that the thought alone of someone remembering your birthday is enough, i am also a happier person whenever i give presents.

and for the first time, this year, i am even more excited for the fact that i will be creating each and everyone's special personalized gift with my own hands - thanks to *dream drops*. i will be uploading the images of the personalized birthday creations soon.

the spiral is the most widely recognized and repeated archetype used to symbolize our inner and outer journey to creation and the self. spirals timelessly exist within our dimension and beyond:

they exist inside our human body, forming what we call DNA

they exist in one of the most ancient religions, as the sacred symbol of the great goddess
they exist in nature through the 4 natural elements and in fossils, trees, flowers, plants.

as the name *dream drops* itself suggested, we needed a creation that would match the concept and reflect the shape of a drop. the above mobile charm is one example of what was developed in this sense.

these 'drop charms' are finished with etchings of various symbols and other decorations. the colours used glow under uv light.

this was definitely the main highlight of *dream drops*, not only because they are a common representation of the psychedelic sphere, but because they are most fun, and to a certain extend, easy to do.... unless you go complicated that is!

most of the shrooms light up under uv light. they are ideal as a mobile charms, keychains, zip chains, to hang on the car's rear view mirror, or anything else you can think of!

some shrooms have shells, shiva eyes, crushed stones, gem stones and other items from the earth and the sea.

one thing i love about the weekends is that most of the time i get to live these 2 magical daily events of nature, the setting of the sun and the rising of the sun. staying awake waiting for these moments makes me feel more connected to nature, to the universe and to creation itself.

all the warm colours shaded in the sky, and on the sea, appear so magickal! no human hand can ever paint such beauty. so here is our tribute to 'sunrise' and 'sunset' with this pair of mobile charms, which also light up under uv light.

the traditional south asian hot beverage is becoming increasingly popular amongst many people that we meet and it was a pleasant surprise to learn that our warm treat, which we offered during the *dream drops* stall at earth garden, was received with excitement!

a careful blend of aromatic spices and herbs, including cardamom, cinnamom, ginger, star anise, peppercorn and cloves and occasionaly also mint, saffron, nutmeg and rose, makes this beverage bracing and soothing even in hot summer days.

to have a taste of our chai, just visit us at the next stall of *dream drops*!

...you can store them, until one day you find them covered in dust...
...you can hang them on the wall, until one day you remove them to place other stuff...
unfortunately, some people throw them away and buy cds or mp3s instead!

well, we have a better idea of what to do with old records, something which is more eye-catching, original and most importantly useful.

for earth garden we have collected as many records as we could and with a magical wand (oh... okay, its a secret we wont tell) turned them into bowls!

and by the way, if any of you have some old records and dont know what to do with them, feel free to send them along! we'll gladly transform them for you :-)

this event was a birthday party of our friend jason, and it was the perfect occasion to initiate the concept of *dream deco*

set up under the protection and blessing of the trees, the chillout area provided a magickal and comfy zone during the night.... with carpets, shisha, chai tea stand, temple of the sun drapes, hammocks and chinese lanters.

Pet owners would say yes, as they may have noticed them sleeping and twitching eyelids and whiskers, moving their paws or legs in motion-like, and often making funny growls, which appear to indicate a dreaming state.

The scientific world now confirms that most animals indeed have complex dreams and have the ability to re-live an event from their waking life while they are asleep. Researchers have discovered that the REM sleep (rapid eye movement), the state of the sleep cycle in which humans dream, is also present in all mammals and therefore they all experience dreams. Birds, on the other hand, dream infrequently and reptiles do not dream at all.

the origin of dream interpretation

Just over a century ago, an Austro-Hungarian with medical and scientific background published a journal where he introduced the notion of the unconscious mind for the first time. The year was 1890; the journal is called ‘The Interpretation of Dreams’; and the author is Sigmund Freud.

In his masterpiece, Freud proposes his theories about dreams, stating that they are not idle, worthless and insignificant, but he goes on to explain how dreams have a specific purpose, a precise meaning and occupy a central position in psycho-analysis. Back in that era, his ideas were brought to ridicule, and critics described him as a con-man, but there was also a good crowd of people fascinated by his work. Dreams are something that all of us experience in the most private and solitary manner, therefore the media, particularly artists and writers, felt genuinely curious about this potential secret to unlock the mystery of dreams.

This was the rise of dream interpretation amongst the general public; since then the interest never diminished and kept forever growing.

Stefan

Stefan draws inspiration from his love for music, fashion and all that represents creative art. He loves to spread positive energy into his creations with a unique organic framework whilst celebrating the sounds, colors and legends of his favourite Retro and Vintage eras. His talent is highlighted with a specific eye for detail and a particular crave for perfectionism, allowing him to craft seamless treasures. Stefan’s young and energetic spirit pledges an innovative development in the years to come defining and enhancing his own personal flair. Zen

A writer and avid traveler, Zen unearths new adornments incorporating imagery and symbolism from ancient civilizations, diverse ethnic cultures and worldwide religions. The creations of 'Dream Drops' will be officially launched during Earth Garden on 23 and 24 May.

For this special occasion we are preparing a surprise treat for all who will come to the Dream Drops stall. We won't include all the details here, or it will not be much of a surprise then would it? :) Enough to say that the surprise is of a cozy nature and a warm feeling, with the intend of providing an awesome experience!

Therefore we would like to take this occasion to invite all our old, present and future friends to come visit us at the colourful and inviting space we will be setting up at the Ethnic Market on Saturday and Sunday from 2.00pm till 8.00pm.
